Equality between men and women in Germany is a political terrain that is traditionally characterized by loving words and sobering numbers. The former, the words, were sufficient two weeks ago, when International Women’s Day, the Equal Pay Day and the Equal Care Day were celebrated, the annual commemoration of unequal pay and unfair distribution of tasks between the sexes, and even the Federal Chancellor saw it as his duty to advocate a fair division of gainful employment and care work.
