It is easy to criticize the education summit in Berlin. The meeting, convened by Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, was a poor start, without a Union Minister of Education and without tangible results. Of course, the FDP minister was not able to solve any of the acute education problems; now a task force is planned. So it may take time. To dismiss the whole thing as a show event, as Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of Education Karin Prien (CDU) does, still falls short.
